The student enrollment for 2009 was 264 (Fall Semester) undergraduate,
37 MS students, and 16 Ph.D. students. The MEEP faculty had a very
productive year with 24 peer reviewed journal articles, two book
chapters, 36 international and national presentations. The MEEP
department has been accredited by ABET for 6 years. The MEEP students
have had very successful year for collecting prestigious awards:

Hoffman, Lisa Furby, Ronnie Mays, Samir Shah, Bryan Whitney Belt, along

Phillip Orman, Dustin Kurtz, Jeongyong Choi, along with faculty advisor,

Moonbuggy Race (

• _Racecar:_ Congratulations to Ryan Vojtech, Frederick Holmes, Ryan
Siriann, Brad Wilson, Brian Hanson and Brad Bainbridge, along with
faculty advisor, Alan Weston; they placed second in the Gateway Rush
Competition.
• _25 Most Distinguished Seniors:_ Lisa Furby, Felipe Pinchera Valdez,
and Jared Willard, each are graduating with a degree in Mechanical
Engineering, were recognized as distinguished seniors at SIUC.

• _Fifty for the Future:_ Justin Behrens and Phillip Orman were awarded
“Fifty for the Future”. The award is given by the Illinois Technology
Foundation to 50 college students throughout Illinois. The awards were
given in Chicago, IL.
